Bir Duino – Kyrgyzstan Human Rights Movement

The Human Rights Movement: Bir Duino – Kyrgyzstan is the legal successor of the Human Rights Center "Citizens against Corruption". Its mission is the protection of human rights and freedoms by promoting the establishment of good governance and the rule of law in Kyrgyzstan. The main purpose of the Movement is to facilitate practical implementation of humanitarian articles of the Helsinki Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 1975, other international legal instruments developed for its implementation as well as all other obligations of Kyrgyzstan in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

The "Human Rights Movement: Bir Duino – Kyrgyzstan" was established for implementation of civic, political, social, charitable, cultural, educational rights and other socially useful purposes, using the tools of monitoring, analysis and evaluation of political, economic, social, labor and cultural human rights in Kyrgyzstan. To achieve these purposes, tools of monitoring, analysis and evaluation of political, economic, social, labor and cultural human rights in Kyrgyzstan promoting and protecting the rights of vulnerable people by involving them in civic participation for the development and strengthening of the parliamentary system of governance in Kyrgyzstan are being used.

To achieve the goals, the "Human Rights Movement: Bir Duino – Kyrgyzstan" in accordance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic is implementing following tasks:

  • promoting human rights ideas and international standards of human rights and fundamental freedoms, legal education;
  • all kind support to the process of formation and development of human rights movement in Kyrgyzstan, protection of rights of human rights defenders and activists;
  • gathering information on violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms and the legal situation in Kyrgyzstan and compliance with international obligations in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms;
  • search and realization of citizen participation forms in the legislative process on issues related to human rights and fundamental freedoms, providing maximal assistance to legislators in ensuring respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms through expert studies and recommendations, participation in  parliamentarism development in Kyrgyzstan.
