Center for National and International Studies (CNIS) is an independent non-profit research institution based in Baku, Azerbaijan. CNIS conducts non-partisan research, covering a wide variety of issues, such as regional conflicts and security; oil and politics; state and democracy building; foreign and domestic policies. The institution also carries out activities related to democracy promotion and human rights. CNIS designs and implements various programs in such fields as archaeology and history, preservation of historical monuments, along with gender and environmental issues. It supports Azerbaijan’s integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures and its vision is an independent democratic Azerbaijan, which is a member of the EU. CNIS brings together practitioners, researchers and policy makers to develop policy recommendations, to exchange ideas and to share research. It aims to promote a market of independent ideas, provide policy makers with up-to-date expertise and increase the level of public awareness and knowledge on vital issues concerning society in Azerbaijan.
