Call for applications for the XII International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival “Bir Duino-Kyrgyzstan-2018”

Human Rights Movement “Bir Duino-Kyrgyzstan” is announcing the call for applications for participation in the XII International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, which will take place on 12 to 17 November 2018 in Bishkek and until the end of November 2018 in the regions of the Kyrgyz Republic.

This year the festival will be conducted under the slogan “For Human Dignity!” and devoted to the 70th anniversary of UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

On 10 December 1948, the General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a benchmark that all Member States should strive for. This document proclaims the interdependence of civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights that are inherent to every human being. "For more than seven decades, this most important document has contributed to the profound changes in our world. It declared the equality and dignity of all people. It obliges all governments to guarantee to each person the observance of their inalienable rights and freedoms. And this document proclaims the universality of all human rights," the UN Head said. He stressed that, according to the Universal Declaration, we are all equal - regardless of wherever we live, whatever our circumstances or our place in society, our gender or sexual orientation, our race or religion or belief.

International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is a broad horizontal participating Civil Platform that raises key topics of Human Rights and Freedoms in a changing world since 2007.

In 2017, XI International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival was devoted to the Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2018, the Organizing Committee of the festival is dedicating the festival to 70th anniversary of UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which proclaimed respect for Human Dignity, universality and fundamental nature of Human Rights and Freedoms.
