In June 2024, the Canada-Ukraine Foundation (CUF) organized an advocacy tour and 37 separate speeches by Oleksandra Matviychuk over a week in four Canadian cities: Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, and Winnipeg.
The trip had two main goals: to raise awareness about the war crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, particularly the abduction of around 20,000 Ukrainian children by the Kremlin, and to collect funds for vital Ukrainian initiatives.
We successfully raised over CAD 300,000 to support initiatives that provide assistance to children who were returned after being deported to Russia and those living in frontline areas. These funds will also support projects that aid people whose lives have been changed by the war.
On September 1, 2024, the Canada-Ukraine Foundation opened applications for the fall season. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to develop and support important initiatives. Russia came to take everything we love, including the childhoods of our children. But we’ve decided: we won’t give anything up!
