NGOs in Albania publish an evaluation of human rights and rule of law during Albanian chairpersonship of OSCE
A group of civil society organizations in Albania, namely the Albanian Helsinki Committee (AHC), Civil Rights Defenders (CRD), the Institute for Political Studies (IPS), Balkan Investigative Reporting Network Albania (BIRN Albania), the Center for Legal Civic Initiatives (CLCI), and Tirana Legal Aid Society (TLAS) implemented the initiative “Evaluation of human rights and the rule of law during the Albanian presidency of OSCE”. The initiative comes in the context of Albania’s chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), under the coordination of the Civic Solidarity Platform and with the financial support of SIDA and the Swedish OSCE Network.
Thanks to their experience and expertise, these organizations reflected with objectivity, professionality, and impartiality Albania’s performance while holding the OSCE chairmanship with regard to respect for human rights in the following areas: progress of justice reform, fight against corruption and impunity, free and fair elections, freedom of the media, human rights in the Covid-19 conditions, and gender equality.
For each of the above areas, a report was drafted with the main findings and recommendations, based on a methodology agreed upon among experts of the civil society organizations and with the guidance of the Civic Solidarity Platform.
The full report in Albanian can be accessed here.
