Origins of the Czech Helsinki Committee – the human rights protecting organization – reach to 1988. There were significant Czech persons among founders such as the former Czech president Václav Havel. Czech Helsinki Committee followed up activities of the Charter 77 and the Committee for the Defence of the Unjustly Prosecuted.
Our mission is striving for respect to principles of natural human rights and enforcing these rights in the whole society.
Our vision: People are free and equal in dignity and human rights.

- monitoring of respecting the human rights in the Czech Republic
- fighting racism and intolerance
- prison system and criminal justice
- social and legal counselling
- human rights education
