Since 1994, the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia (HCHRS) has been dedicated to the promotion of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, and giving a voice to those whose rights are threatened. The vision of HCHRS is a peaceful, just, inclusive and culturally diverse society in which human rights are universally respected, intercultural dialogue thrives, and Serbia and the Western Balkans were integrated into the EU. HCHRS realizes its mission through the following strategic programs: Documentation/research centre, Facing the past – i.e. Transitional justice, Europeanization of Serbia, Alternative youth education, Promotion and protection of human rights, Conflict prevention.

More than 7,000 young people participated in educational programs that contribute to the development of critical thinking and the fight against manipulation and fake news. HCHRS has published more than 320 publications, produced more than 30 films and videos dealing with the topics of human rights and European integration of the Western Balkans. HCHRS is among the founders of the House of Human Rights in Belgrade and the Civic Solidarity Platform.
