The Ukrainian Helsinki Union is the largest association of human rights organizations in Ukraine. The Union unites 27 human rights non-governmental organizations. The goal of the UHHRU is to protect human rights. UHHRU considers itself a part of the Helsinki movement and a successor to the traditions and activities of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group for the Implementation of the Helsinki Accords.
The Ukrainian Helsinki Union promotes the development of a humane society based on respect for human life, dignity and harmonious relations between man, the state and nature by creating a platform for cooperation between members of the Union and other participants in the human rights movement. The direct activities of the Union are related to the provision of free legal assistance to citizens, conducting strategic cases in the courts of Ukraine, the European Court of Human Rights, and other international jurisdictional bodies in order to provide qualified legal assistance to victims of human rights violations in cases of strategic importance, monitoring compliance with human rights, advocacy for best practices in the implementation and protection of human rights.
The Ukrainian Helsinki Union promotes the development of a humane society based on respect for human life, dignity and harmonious relations between man, the state and nature through the creation of a platform for cooperation between members of the Union and other participants of the human rights movement.
