The Human Rights Club (HRC) was established in December 2010, on World Human Rights Day, by a group of human rights defenders in Azerbaijan. The primary goal of the HRC is to safeguard and promote human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan, foster greater respect for these rights, and provide effective support for their defense. The club’s mission centers around raising awareness, advocacy, and protection of human rights. Its key objectives include:
Promoting Awareness: Educating both members and the broader community about local and global human rights issues. This involves highlighting human rights violations, explaining relevant legal frameworks, and emphasizing the importance of human dignity and equality.
Advocacy for Human Rights: Engaging in advocacy efforts to protect and promote human rights, which may include lobbying for policy reforms, supporting vulnerable populations, and amplifying the voices of individuals affected by human rights violations.
Empowering Individuals and Communities: Providing individuals with the knowledge and tools to defend their own rights and the rights of others. The HRC organizes workshops, seminars, and discussions to equip participants with the resources needed to advocate for justice and equality.
Promoting Justice and Equality: Committed to ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their background, are treated fairly and equally under the law. A major focus of the HRC is to fight discrimination, oppression, and injustice in all its forms.
